Earlier this year, we had the privilege of travelling to China with Lorentz and Reaqua to tour the Lorentz solar pump factory. To say we were impressed is an understatement.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Lorentz is not just a manufacturer but a company built on passion, innovation, and genuine care for their products and people. Meeting Bernt Lorentz, the founder and designer of the Lorentz solar pumps, was a highlight of the trip. With more than 20 years leading the solar pump industry, Bernt’s enthusiasm for the product, the industry, and his team was really inspiring.
One of the most impressive aspects of the factory was Lorentz’s dedication to quality control. Each pump is tracked with an advanced serial number system, where every single component is checked, scanned, and linked to that individual pump. This means the full history of the pump can be traced for its entire lifetime. For us, installing in remote areas, this level of quality assurance is one of the main reasons we continue to choose Lorentz for our clients. With most of our work being in rural areas reliability of our products is a must.
The people we met were just as impressive. Lorentz is a multicultural workplace, with staff from China, Germany, the UK, and the US all contributing to the company’s success. The workplace culture stood out — not only were the occupational health and safety standards very high, but the staff facilities were also first class. From a cafeteria serving delicious daily meals to recreation spaces with badminton courts, pool tables, and table tennis, it was easy to see why Lorentz enjoys such a high staff retention rate of 10+ years.
Outside of the factory, we were also treated to some unforgettable experiences. We enjoyed incredible meals, including the famous Peking duck, and had the chance to see some of China’s most iconic sights. Visiting the Great Wall was a particular highlight — it was even more beautiful and much bigger than we expected, an experience we’ll never forget.
We also had the opportunity to explore Lorentz’s R&D and testing facilities, which were equally impressive. The innovation and forward-thinking we saw there confirmed what we already knew: Lorentz is not only leading the solar pump industry but also determined to keep driving it into the future.
We’ve been using Lorentz pumps for many years, but this trip gave us an even greater appreciation for the company behind the product. Their passion, quality, and commitment to innovation make them a perfect fit for the work we do in remote areas — and we left China both inspired and reassured that our clients are getting the very best.
